RUSSIA MARKET TURNED TO AEGEAN: THE NUMBER OF RUSSIAN TOURISTS VISITING MUĞLA INCREASED
In the first six months of 2025, the number of Russian tourists visiting Muğla, a major tourism center on Turkey's Aegean coast, increased by 2.8% compared to the same period last year, reaching 119,847 people. This increase, which includes popular destinations such as Bodrum, Marmaris and Fethiye, paints a positive picture for the Russian market in the region.
According to data from the Muğla Provincial Culture and Tourism Directorate, 98.7% of Russian tourists arrived in the region by air. Dalaman Airport alone accounted for 61.5% of these arrivals, while Bodrum Airport had a 38.5% share. These rates are almost identical to those of 2024.
Russia ranked second in terms of the number of tourists among the Aegean coast destinations. The United Kingdom ranked first with 564,806 visitors, followed by Russia with 103,349 tourists from Poland.
There was a 2.4% decrease in visits from Russia to Antalya in the first half of the year. Antalya hosted 1,401,789 Russian visitors in the first six months of 2025, while this figure was 1,436,492 in 2024. It was observed that the decrease stemmed from the first months, which were especially off-season, while the trend started to increase again in May and June.
It is stated that this trend towards the Aegean coast is supported by the increase in tour operators' flight programs to the region, and this interest is expected to continue throughout the season.
