POPE 14TH LEO, AT ANITKABIR

Pope Leo XIV, who made an official visit to Turkey, made his first stop in Ankara at Anıtkabir, the eternal resting place of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Leo XIV laid a wreath at the mausoleum, observed a moment of silence, and then proceeded to the Misak-ı Milli Tower to sign the Anıtkabir Special Book. Leo XIV, who also visited the Atatürk and War of Independence Museum, wrote the following note in the Anıtkabir Special Book: "I thank God for having been able to visit Turkey and I pray for abundant peace and prosperity upon this country and its people."
