AHMET GİRGİN: "THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IN HEALTH TOURISM IS THE INABILITY TO UNITE YET"

Ahmet Girgin, Secretary General of the Turkish Health Tourism Associations Federation and Manager of M2 HTC Health Tourism Travel Agency, answered the questions of GM Tourism and Management Magazine. Girgin stated that health tourism is the most important argument in the goal of spreading tourism over 12 months. How do you evaluate the 2025 season in health tourism compared to 2024? Health tourism appears to be a trend with increasing momentum day by day. The health tourism segment within general mass tourism stands out with a strong infrastructure that will always exist. Our country is very suitable for health tourism with its health infrastructure, the advantage of being a tourism country, and the effective use of tourism intermediation activities. As long as it is auditable within this multidisciplinary structure, health tourism will always increase. We are hopeful for 2025. Very small complications in some hair, dental, aesthetic, and obesity surgery procedures are being used in smear campaigns with lobbying activities in Western European countries. Our biggest problem is that we have not been able to make health tourism a national issue. We believe that once we achieve this unity, we can solve these problems with strategic, long-term plans that will allow us to surpass rival countries. Can health tourism be a solution for 12 months of tourism? Of course. While our country is in a general mass tourism trend such as sea, sand, sun, and cultural tourism, the leading locomotive tourism type that can spread tourism over 12 months is health tourism. In health tourism, especially hair transplantation and other treatments are more preferred in the winter season. Other radical surgeries, oncological cases, and organ transplantations are types of treatment that can be performed without waiting, so health tourism is the most important argument in 12-month diversification.
