Turkish Airlines is undertaking an innovative transformation by integrating artificial intelligence into its operational processes with Red Hat OpenShift AI, thereby increasing both customer satisfaction and efficiency.

THY Accelerates Digital Transformation in Aviation with Red Hat OpenShift AI

Turkish Airlines has chosen open-source technologies to support its next-generation artificial intelligence projects focused on advanced dynamic pricing, fraud prevention, and reducing fuel consumption. The company is accelerating its data and AI-driven enterprise transformation by using Red Hat OpenShift AI and Red Hat OpenShift platforms.

As part of the collaboration announced at Red Hat Summit 2025 in Boston, THY can create development environments in minutes and has achieved up to a two-fold increase in application deployment speed. Thanks to the project, data scientists can access data across the organization more effectively, while engineering teams can implement their custom environments much faster.

Thanks to the flexibility offered by the open-source architecture, THY has gained the ability to develop both predictive and generative AI solutions in a hybrid cloud environment without being dependent on a single supplier. The system enables operations teams to focus on more strategic areas with automatic resource provisioning and scaling features.

With the developed models, the accuracy rate in fraud detection has been increased, and chatbots have been put into service in customer service using Red Hat-supported large language models. In addition, algorithms that optimize flight routes and fuel consumption enable the most suitable aircraft to be assigned for each route, aiming to reduce operational costs.

Turkish Technology, THY's subsidiary that plays an important role in its technological transformation, both reduces costs and creates new revenue models with its AI-based projects. There are currently more than 60 active AI models in the organization, with more than 40 models in development. The number of over 200 THY personnel working in this field is expected to increase in the short term.

Haluk Tekin, General Manager of Red Hat Turkey and CIS Region, said, "One of the most important steps that paves the way for the adoption of artificial intelligence at the enterprise level is to train citizen data scientists. In this context, we are honored to cooperate with Turkish Airlines."

Serdar Gürbüz, General Manager of Turkish Technology, said, "We continue to integrate artificial intelligence into every aspect of our business on our data-driven transformation journey. Red Hat contributes to this process not only as a technological partner but also as a cultural partner."

This move by THY sets an example for the effective use of artificial intelligence in the aviation industry, while also reinforcing the institution's customer-oriented, safe, and efficient service approach.
