MANDARIN ORIENTAL TAKES OVER OPERATION OF VENICE HOTEL

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group announced that it has taken over the operation of San Clemente Palace Hotel in Venice, one of Italy's iconic destinations. Located on a private island, the facility will operate under the name Mandarin Oriental, Venice from April 2026.
Located in the heart of the Venetian lagoon, on an area of 80 thousand square meters, this unique hotel stands out with its historical texture, elegant gardens, and its proximity to San Marco Square, just an eight-minute boat ride away. The hotel will continue to serve in its current form until the end of the season in November 2025, after which it will undergo a comprehensive renovation process.
The three-stage renovation works will be brought to life with interior design touches signed by Albion Nord. The renovated hotel will feature 136 rooms and suites reflecting Venetian elegance, original gastronomy concepts, Mandarin Oriental's award-winning SPA services, an outdoor pool, and wellness areas. In addition, versatile areas catering to different guest segments, such as event and children's areas, are also included in the project.
Laurent Kleitman, Chairman of Mandarin Oriental Group, said: “We are delighted to bring Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service approach to Venice. With its unique location and rich heritage, this historic building is in perfect harmony with our vision of creating impressive experiences that allow our guests to establish meaningful connections with the destination. By adding Venice to our portfolio in Italy, we are further enriching our destination network in the country. Thus, in addition to the hotels we already operate in Milan and Lake Como, we are further strengthening our presence in Italy with the facilities that will soon be opened in Rome, Cortina and Porto Cervo.”

Emir Uyar, Vice Chairman of Permak Holding: “We are very pleased to partner with Mandarin Oriental to start a new era for San Clemente Palace. This iconic structure, one of Venice's most established private islands, deserves the service approach and refined hospitality for which Mandarin Oriental has gained its reputation. We are excited to witness the transformation of this special place and to welcome our guests with a unique luxury experience.”

The 900-year history and 12th-century historical structures of San Clemente Island are being reinterpreted with the Mandarin Oriental brand, preparing to offer a special accommodation experience that brings together luxury, history, and peace.
