Erciyes Ski Center, one of Turkey's important winter tourism centers, hosts millions of local and foreign tourists every year. This season, 2 million 700 thousand visitors came to Erciyes, contributing 200 million euros to the country's economy. Hamdi Elcuman, Chairman of the Board of Erciyes A.Ş., under the management of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, said, "Erciyes is the biggest brand of Kayseri and Central Anatolia in our service exports. We want to grow this brand in the world. Because we are really the same quality as our peers. In fact, we have much better aspects than them. We are a relatively cheap ski resort with easy access in the middle of Anatolia. As such, we host many visitors from both domestic and abroad. This year, we had direct flights from the Czech Republic and Poland. We are continuing our efforts to have second flights from the same countries next year," he said.
'WE ARE EXPECTING A MORE INTENSE VISITOR NEXT YEAR'
Stating that Erciyes is a preferred destination abroad, Elcuman said, "This year, we hosted guests from countries such as Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. For 2 years, we have hosted many British guests. We had British visitors as both tourists and agencies. We reaped the fruits of our efforts last year this year. We are expecting a more intense visitor next year. We have many visitors from Germany and Europe, Russia and Ukraine. According to our calculations, Erciyes contributes 200 million euros annually to the economy of Kayseri and the country. We believe that Erciyes has contributed a total of 2 billion euros to the country's economy in 10 years. We have not yet received foreign tourist figures from hotels, the provincial tourism directorate, and the airport. Approximately 15 percent of our total number of visitors each year consists of foreign tourists. According to the latest figures, we have reached a total of 2.7 million visitors. We will have the opportunity to re-evaluate when the exact figures arrive in the following days," he said.
