2018 RECORD SURPASSED: ENGLAND IS EXPERIENCING ITS HOTTEST SUMMER
This summer period in the UK is predicted to be the 'hottest summer' on record.
According to preliminary data from the UK Met Office, the average temperature in the UK between June 1st and August 25th was 16.13 degrees Celsius, which is 1.54 degrees above the long-term meteorological average. With this average temperature, the summer of 2025 is estimated to be the 'hottest summer' on record in the country.
Met Office scientist Emily Carlisle stated that the summer of 2025 will ‘almost certainly be the hottest summer on record’, adding, "Currently, the average temperature is 16.13 degrees Celsius. The current record is 15.76 degrees, recorded in 2018. Therefore, the current record is expected to be surpassed.”
Experts stated that hotter and drier summers may be experienced in the UK in the future.
