SIX SENSES KAPLANKAYA'DAN KARBON NÖTR KONAKLAMA
As one of the pioneers of the concept of sustainable luxury in Turkey, Six Senses Kaplankaya has taken its environmentally conscious tourism approach a step further by implementing the "Carbon Neutral Room Package." Now, guests not only experience a privileged holiday but also make a meaningful contribution to nature.
Six Senses Kaplankaya, recognized as one of the best hotels in Europe by prestigious platforms such as Condé Nast Traveller and World Luxury Hotel & Spa Awards, and selected as "Europe's Best Spa Retreat" at The Luxury Spa Edit Awards 2024, puts environmental awareness at the center with its carbon-neutral accommodation package. The carbon emissions generated by guests during their holidays are calculated according to international standards and balanced by supporting renewable energy projects in Turkey.
Within the scope of the project implemented in cooperation with Net Zero, in addition to the Scope 1 and 2 carbon calculations previously carried out by the hotel, Scope 3 data is also analyzed with DEFRA emission factors. A local wind energy project supported in this context reduces CO2 emissions by 71,710 tons per year, while also contributing to the United Nations' sustainable development goals 6, 7, 8 and 13.
Six Senses Kaplankaya Sustainability Director Yasemen Erdemir summarizes the hotel's environmental vision by saying, "Protecting nature is our luxury. Sustainability is not a choice for us, but a necessity. We support local suppliers, use IREC certified renewable energy, prefer plastic-free products and allocate 0.5% of our income to sustainability projects." In addition, the sphere of influence is expanded with social projects such as 'Local Climate Warriors', which aim to instill climate awareness in children.
Six Senses Kaplankaya continues to strengthen its understanding of holiday in harmony with nature in its 8th year in Turkey, while inviting its guests to be an active part of this transformation with the "Carbon Neutral Room Package".
