LA TURCHIA SCOPRE LA STORIA DELL'UMANITÀ MONDIALE
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said, "On the 7th anniversary of Göbeklitepe, the oldest and most striking witness of history, being included in UNESCO as a world heritage site, we are determinedly continuing our efforts to protect, understand, and pass on this unique heritage to future generations."
Minister Ersoy made a statement on his social media account on the 7th anniversary of Göbeklitepe, which is accepted as the zero point of history, being accepted to the UNESCO World Heritage List. Minister Ersoy drew attention to the universal value of Göbeklitepe and the work carried out by the ministry. Minister Ersoy said, "On the 7th anniversary of Göbeklitepe, the oldest and most striking witness of history, being included in UNESCO as a world heritage site, we are determinedly continuing our efforts to protect, understand, and pass on this unique heritage to future generations. The inclusion of Göbeklitepe, which rewrote human history by breaking all preconceptions about the past, in the list was the global registration of our cultural memory. With the Taş Tepeler Project, which we announced in Şanlıurfa in the 100th year of our Republic, we are determined to understand this unique heritage even more deeply and carry it to the future in the light of scientific data. We are continuing excavation, preservation, promotion and infrastructure works in coordination; we evaluate Göbeklitepe not only as an archaeological site, but also as a unique center where cultures have left their mark throughout history. Turkey continues to protect the heritage of humanity and bring it together with all of humanity."
According to the statement made by the Ministry, Göbeklitepe is at the center of Turkey's cultural diplomacy vision, not only Şanlıurfa's. In line with this vision, the 'Göbeklitepe: The Mystery of a Sacred Site' exhibition held in Rome's world-famous historical structure, the Colosseum, also attracted great interest from the European public. The exhibition, which opened in the shadow of two thousand-year-old stones, reached approximately 6.5 million visitors and repositioned Göbeklitepe on the international cultural scene.
