According to Fitch Solutions, Qatar is maintaining its momentum in tourism. The number of tourists is expected to reach 5.3 million in 2025. The goal is to reach 5.7 million visitors in 2029.
According to data compiled by Türkiye Turizm Ansiklopedisi from the Fitch Solutions report, Qatar will increase the number of tourists by 3.5 percent to 5.3 million in 2025. It is predicted that the growth in the country's tourism sector, which started to rise after hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022, will continue until 2029.
Medium-Term Growth Expectation
Fitch Solutions states that Qatar's tourist arrivals will increase by an average of 2.4 percent annually in the 2025-2029 period, and that this number will reach 5.7 million in 2029. It is stated that the growth will be realized especially thanks to strong demand from source markets such as Saudi Arabia, India, Germany, the United Kingdom and the USA, and government-supported investments.
Qatar's New Tourism Moves
The country's sustainable tourism investments attract attention. During the Web Summit held in February 2025, Visit Qatar signed a memorandum of understanding with Microsoft focused on digital innovation. With this collaboration, it is aimed to disseminate technologies such as the GenAI-based digital travel consultant.
The Banana Island Adventure Park, which opened within the Banana Island Resort in Doha in the same period, also stood out as a new destination attracting attention in the field of adventure tourism. The park, which has Qatar's longest zipline, has entertainment elements such as climbing walls, giant swings and a human slingshot.
Destination Awareness Increases with Events
The Qatar Kite Festival, held in January 2025, hosted more than 60 professional kite flyers from 20 countries. The event, which took place in iconic areas such as Sealine, Hotel Park and Old Doha Port, attracted attention especially from the European and Asian markets.
In addition, the Moscow City Tourism Committee aimed to increase visitor traffic by launching a regional roadshow to strengthen tourism relations with Qatar. The existence of 14 direct weekly flights between Moscow and Doha also contributes to the tourism exchange between the two destinations.
From 2015 to 2025: Multiplying Growth
The report also refers to 2015 and underlines that the fact that Qatar, which hosted 2.94 million tourists in that year, is expected to almost double this number in 2025 is an indication of the transformation in the country's tourism policies.
