In Gaziantep, baklava masters are working hard to meet the demands for the Ramadan Feast. While baklava production has doubled throughout the city, masters are working hard to meet the orders coming from all over Turkey and the world.

In Gaziantep, famous for its baklava and pistachios, masters start working in workshops after iftar to meet domestic and international orders due to the Ramadan Feast and continue working until morning. Baklavas prepared with hand labor are packaged and delivered abroad and to different cities by plane or bus, while production and working hours double due to the feast.

'PRODUCTION HAS DOUBLED'

Baklava master Ömer Çelebioğulları stated that the orders were more than expected a few days before the holiday, and that production had doubled. Stating that baklava makers in Gaziantep produce an average of 30 tons per day, and that this has increased to 60 tons after intense demand, Ömer Çelebioğluları said, “We received a demand far beyond our expectations a few days before the Ramadan Feast. Currently, production has doubled. As baklava makers in Gaziantep, the baklava we produce daily as 30 tons increases to 60 tons. According to the analyzes we have, we send one third of the baklava we produce to the people of Gaziantep and the tourists who come to the city, and the remaining two thirds to domestic and abroad. We ensure that the baklava we make domestically reaches within 24 hours. We deliver abroad within 36 to 48 hours. A good baklava starts with clarified butter, pistachios and craftsmanship. Baklava is our geographical indication. Citizens need to warm the baklava slightly before eating it. The reason is that we use the original yellow oil of the Urfa, Harran, Antep region, so the clarified butter needs to be melted a little."

WARNING TO THOSE WHO WILL ORDER ONLINE

Ömer Çelebioğulları gave warnings to those who will order from different cities or from abroad. Stating that some advertisements called Gaziantep Baklava are published on social media to deceive people, Çelebioğluları said, “Unfortunately, there are those who carry out fraudulent activities, especially during this month of Ramadan, through social media accounts. Low-quality baklavas are sold to our citizens through social media accounts as original Gaziantep Baklava. We recommend that our citizens place orders by entering the main pages of the brands they prefer. This will damage both the pocket and the health of our citizens.”
