The EU Commission has announced that it will distribute 36,000 free travel passes for train travel to European countries to 18-year-olds residing in countries associated with the Erasmus+ program, including Turkey.

In a written statement by the European Union (EU) Commission, it was stated that 36,000 travel passes will be provided to young people under the ‘DiscoverEU’ program. The statement noted that applications started today, and successful applicants will be able to travel throughout Europe by train for 30 days between July 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026.

The statement mentioned that applicants must be born between July 1, 2006, and June 30, 2007, and reside in EU countries or countries associated with the Erasmus+ program such as Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Turkey. It was also noted that applications will close on April 16 at 13:00 CET.
