ACCIDENT AT ITALY BERGAMO AIRPORT: 1 DEAD
Bergamo Airport in Italy has been temporarily closed after a person died on the runway.
At Italy's Bergamo Airport, an individual, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, ran onto the runway, approached an aircraft engine, and was subsequently drawn into it. The incident reportedly occurred as the aircraft was maneuvering from the parking area to prepare for takeoff.
In a statement, the airport stated that flight operations were suspended between 10:20 and 12:00 local time due to 'an issue on the taxiway'.
An investigation into the incident has been launched.
