Let's talk about networking, shall we? But let's talk with a Tourism adaptation. While it is an English concept, its Turkish equivalent can be defined as networking. So, how do you think social networking and usage processes work in tourism? Or is healthy networkism being done?

We have very tightly managed social network connections, yes. I think that when managed correctly, it is a very important resource for your business or personal career. Although there are equivalents in Turkish such as having an uncle or a solid acquaintance, we need to take the subject out of that dimension and turn it to what we can learn from our social network or our relationships here. Isn't it time to break the image that you can't do anything in tourism without knowing someone?

We can also achieve a success that can bring very serious success to our organization by using a connection. A good sales connection or a good purchasing strategy can be created.

So, a question for you. Do the managers of those huge institutions also have a huge social network with the size of the institutions? I think the equation within this criterion needs to be analyzed correctly.

Because when this issue is not handled correctly, perhaps the following situation arises. When there is a strong institution but a weak manager, what we call social networking turns from using to being used. How so? He seems to have a strong network only as long as he is in that position. However, in general, the mediocre manager in that position unfortunately does not go beyond being used. Especially if he is unaware of the world and stays away from everything, an even worse situation arises for the institution.

Your development stops, you cannot use your power effectively. In other words, you are just saving the moment.

There are tourism lobbies, once one-on-one communication, then telephones, then social media that puts the whole world at your fingertips.

So, have you ever thought about it? Are you managing your social network correctly?

In general, it is necessary to think like this, if you are only using your social network, this unfortunately enters into a one-sided management. And over time, if you don't have the giving that will strengthen your social network, you start to fall behind and break away.

When you see yourself at the top, you look and you are gone. So, I guess being unreachable is not that great. Fake references, incorrect information sharing, smears, etc. etc. etc.

I am saddened to see that many people are being weakened in this direction. "Don't hire that person", "You can't work with that company" or vice versa. Being a positive reference for someone who won't be? Doesn't the person you are referring carry you somewhere with them? With the reference of your knowledge and equipment, aren't they entering the place or job you directed them to?

I really ask why you are doing it. When people see that a piece of information you give is wrong or misleading, they stop taking you seriously. Then they do to you what you did, and internal bargains and wars begin.

Yes, there is also this side of the job. The backstage side that appears on social media is 100% there. Especially in the tourism industry, phones and messages…

We got into some very dirty places, didn't we? Just friendly advice. Wear your armor everywhere, take it off and lighten up with your real friends.

An executive without a strong social network will not add value to you in the long run, no matter how strong the organization is. Please remember this, even if a manager who mistreats his employees at work seems nice on the outside, things don't really work that way.

Let's say goodbye by thinking and making people think, then

You can occupy a position, an office. You may have come here through your connections. Maybe you were appointed. Let these people be by your side… Let them work with this company…

How sustainable is it to stay afloat with just connections in such a fast-moving industry?”
