Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is bringing the Super 8® by Wyndham brand to Spain and Portugal under an exclusive development agreement signed with Soliteight Hotel Projects SA. The agreement envisages the opening of 40 new Super 8 hotels over the next 10 years.

With approximately 9,300 hotels and 25 global brands operating worldwide, Wyndham aims to respond to the growing tourism demand in the region with the new agreement. The Super 8 brand is known worldwide for its affordable, reliable and quality accommodation services.

The first hotel is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2027 in Leiria, Portugal. Subsequent openings are expected to be in primary and secondary cities, airports, busy shopping malls and along main transport routes. Most of the new hotels will be built using smart modular designs focused on efficiency and sustainability.

Dimitris Manikis, President of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts EMEA, said: “By bringing our Super 8 brand to Spain and Portugal, we are making quality and affordable travel opportunities more accessible. There is increasing demand for reliable and budget-friendly accommodation in Southern Europe and our collaboration with Soliteight allows us to meet this need. We look forward to introducing Super 8’s affordability, modern comfort and sustainability approach to these dynamic markets.”

In 2024, Spain broke a record with 94 million international visitors, while Portuguese tourism also recorded strong growth. The Spanish economy, which grew by 3.2% in the same year, increased domestic tourism and business travel demands, especially in secondary cities. Super 8 by Wyndham aims to fill the gap in the mid-segment with affordable and quality accommodation options.

Soliteight CEO Rui Alpalhão said:

“Branded economy segment hotels in Spain and Portugal are lagging behind other European markets. Despite a 142% increase in revenue per available room since 2019, there is a 10% gap in the budget segment. We are delighted to bring the Super 8 brand to the Iberian Peninsula with Wyndham, offering reliable, comfortable and value-oriented accommodation to guests in domestic and foreign markets.”
