THE COLOSSEUM HOSTED A MEVLEVI SEMAZEN PERFORMANCE
Organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Italian Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the event witnessed the Mevlevi Sema ceremony taking place in the Colosseum, one of the symbolic structures of Ancient Rome.
According to the statement made by the Ministry, the Mevlevi Sema Ceremony was held in the Colosseum by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Turkish Sufi Music and Sema Ensemble. The special event, organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Italian Ministry of Culture and Tourism, with the contributions of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, was attended by Deputy Minister Gökhan Yazgı, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, Rome Ambassador Elif Çomoğlu Ülgen, and many Turkish and Italian guests.
'RISING TO 4TH PLACE IS NO COINCIDENCE'
Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Gökhan Yazgı made statements to the press before the Sema ceremony in the Colosseum. Stating that they came to give messages of peace to the world in the shadow of a symbolic structure, Yazgı said that they are working to explain Turkish culture, art and archeology in many parts of Europe. Emphasizing that Turkey has always become a country that makes a name for itself in the world with its culture, art and archeology, Yazgı noted that they are taking firm steps towards becoming a leading country in tourism. Yazgı emphasized that Turkey's rise to 4th place in world tourism is not a coincidence, and underlined that they continue to work to introduce the country, to fully explain Anatolia to the world with its cultural assets, gastronomic traditions, customs and traditions. Referring to the Göbeklitepe exhibition, which was closed again in the Colosseum in the past months and exceeded 6.5 million visitors, Yazgı said that they have signed a work that made a name for itself in the world.
'MEVLANA'S MESSAGES ARE OF GUIDING NATURE'
Deputy Minister Gökhan Yazgı also emphasized Mevlana's language of peace and the universal message he presented to humanity in his opening speech at the ceremony. Yazgı said, "Mevlana showed in every word and deed that he came to the world to unite, not to separate." Drawing attention to the depth of the Sema tradition, Yazgı said, "Mevlana is a great Sufi who can appeal beyond his era, a powerful poet and a deep thinker. His message has become a language of peace shaped by sema and reaching all humanity." Stating that the Mevlevi tradition originated from the teachings of Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi, Yazgı emphasized that this cultural heritage contributes to the common values of humanity. Referring to the conflicts and separations experienced today, Yazgı said, "Today, in a world where wars and separations are increasing, Mevlana's messages based on humanity, brotherhood and peace are a guide for all of us."
