North Korea has realized another remarkable investment in the field of tourism. The 20,000-capacity tourism complex built on the Kalma Peninsula on the country's east coast was officially opened with a ceremony attended by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

The opening of the complex, which has been under construction for a long time, is considered an important step in terms of both domestic development projects and outward opening efforts. Russian Ambassador to North Korea Alexander Matsegora and embassy officials also attended the ceremony as special guests.

“Tourism Will Be the Locomotive of Economic Growth”

In his opening speech, Kim Jong-un emphasized the importance of the tourism sector for the country's economy, stating that the new complex is not only a holiday center but also part of the country's vision of becoming a world-class tourism and culture center.

"All units responsible for the operation must do their best to offer guests a pleasant and satisfying holiday," Kim said, emphasizing that this project in Kalma will be a model for similar investments.

Prime Minister Pak Emphasizes "Groundbreaking Change"

Speaking at the ceremony, North Korean Prime Minister Pak Thae-Song stated that the Kalma coast has gained a modern and aesthetic appearance with the new facility. Saying that this transformation took place thanks to the vision of the Korean Workers' Party, Pak said, "This is a groundbreaking change that only the WPK can accomplish."

It was announced that the project, which is being promoted as an indicator of people-oriented policies, will start serving domestic tourists as of July 1.
