A TURKISH PERSON BOUGHT THE WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE APARTMENT
Turkish overseas housing investment surpassed foreigners for the first time.
A striking statistic emerged in the first 5 months of 2025. The number of properties purchased by Turkish citizens abroad surpassed the number of houses purchased by foreigners in Turkey for the first time. Rapidly increasing inflation and uncontrolled rising housing prices in recent years have led to radical changes in investment preferences.
According to Mehmet Kaya from Ekonomim, while Turkish citizens bought only 371 overseas homes in 2021, this number increased to 793 in the first five months of 2025. In the same period, the number of homes purchased by foreigners from Turkey remained below this figure. This development indicates that the balances in Turkey's real estate market are changing.
SOLD FOR $130 MILLION, BUYER IS A TURKISH BILLIONAIRE
A striking detail was included in the latest report on real estate investments. The world's most expensive apartment was purchased by a Turkish billionaire for $130 million. While the buyer's identity was not disclosed, it was stated that the apartment belongs to an ultra-luxury project planned to be completed in 2027.
The first images of the project were also shared with the public. This development shows that Turkish investors have become active players not only in the domestic market but also in the global luxury real estate market.
