Germany's leading tourism chain, Schmetterling International, held its annual meeting in Bodrum with 600 travel agencies. Tourism relations between the two countries deepened through panels, collaborations and fair organizations.

Schmetterling International's annual meeting was held in Bodrum this year. The organization, supported by the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), Bodrum Hoteliers Association (BODER), SunExpress and Bentour Reisen, was attended by nearly 600 travel agency representatives from Germany. The event drew attention with its opening meeting, panel sessions, travel fair and regional tours.

Speaking at the opening held at Lujo Bodrum, Schmetterling International CEO Ömer Karaca described Bodrum as "Türkiye's St. Tropez". Karaca also touched upon the price increases in Mediterranean destinations and stated that the price-performance balance should cover all segments of the population.

Karaca stated that Schmetterling expanded its network with 1,854 new agencies last year and announced that they achieved a revenue of 1.5 billion euros. Announcing that they have incorporated FTI's ticketing system, he said, "We are preparing to launch systems such as FareWizzard+ to the market."

Leading representatives of the tourism industry came together in the panel section. Senior executives from important tour operators such as Alltours, DERTOUR, AIDA, TUI, Bentour and Schauinsland Reisen evaluated industry trends and German-Turkish cooperation.

A large-scale travel fair with the participation of more than 90 brands was also held at Duja Hotel as part of the event. German participants also had the opportunity to get to know the Bodrum peninsula closely.

Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nadir Alpaslan emphasized in his speech at the event that they are open to cooperation in order to increase the number of visitors from Germany, while Muğla Mayor Ahmet Aras announced that negotiations for sister city status with Germany are ongoing.
