The German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced the 2024 data on population growth. Accordingly, the country's population in 2024 increased by 121,000 to reach 83.6 million. Thus, the population increase was lower compared to 2023, when it was 338,000 people last year. Destatis stated in its statement that the population increase last year was due to foreigners moving to Germany.

FOREIGN POPULATION IS INCREASING IN GERMANY

The foreign population in Germany increased by 283,000 last year to 12.4 million, while the German population decreased by 162,000 to 71.2 million.

HOW MANY TURKS LIVE IN GERMANY?

Turks constitute the largest foreign group with 1 million 403 thousand, followed by Ukrainians with 1 million 85 thousand, Syrians with 889 thousand, and Romanians with 771 thousand.
