In the war between Russia and Ukraine, which has lasted for more than 3 years, 81,635 Russians and 32,785 Ukrainians, who had to migrate from the two countries, continue to live in Turkey with a residence permit.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the number of foreigners living in Turkey with a residence permit was 1 million 76 thousand 643 as of March 13. There are 120,301 Turkmen, 84,085 Azerbaijanis, 81,635 Russians, 76,601 Iranians, 73,178 Syrians, 68,341 Iraqis, 58,208 Uzbeks, 43,934 Kazakhs, 36,897 Afghans, and 32,785 Ukrainians living in Turkey with a residence permit.

In the war that has lasted for more than 3 years, the number of Russians and Ukrainians residing in Turkey with a residence permit has decreased by almost half compared to the first year of the war. After the war that started on February 20, 2022, this number was recorded as 201 thousand 533 on January 19, 2023, and 137 thousand 829 on December 31, 2023. During these dates, the number of Russian citizens decreased from 154 thousand 297 to 100 thousand 847, and the number of Ukrainian citizens decreased from 47 thousand 236 to 36 thousand 982.

The number of Russian citizens residing in Turkey with a short-term residence permit was recorded as 41,803, and the number of Ukrainian citizens was recorded as 21,454. Russian citizens ranked first in the number of foreigners residing in Turkey with a family residence permit. The ranking of foreigners residing in Turkey with a family residence permit is as follows;
